Personality: In the barn, Halcyon is a real favorite. He is naturally a very charming young gelding and a huge people pleaser. He doesn't act up, and instead acts a lot like an obedient pup. He is a ham and loves attention and anyone who is willing to give it for him. He poses for cameras and will nibble on people to get their attention - and their treats if they happen to have those. Due to this charming behavior, he has quickly become a real fan favorite. Hal just has a way with connecting to people and being remembered. People can't help be drawn to all his charm packed into his little body. Halcyon may be on the smaller side, but boy does he have the heart of a lion. Hal is as competitive as they come, and while small in size, he makes up for it with his tremendous will to win. He is perhaps the most courageous horse at Winchester Racing. He does not shy from a fight and will weave through the smallest spaces without a blink of an eye. Wherever his jockey points him, he goes. A carbon copy of his award winning dam, Hal is as hickory as he is fast. Hal is one of the healthiest and sound in the stable and is always hungry for work. He is the type that rebounds from giant efforts as if they were just a walk in the park, which is a miracle considering the colt's running style.
RACE INFORMATIONGrade 3
6-9 furlongs Turf [Good] Dirt [Great] Race Results: 28 | 8-9-6 | 78% Running Style: Deep Closer The daring colt tends to leave his connections holding their breath when he breaks from the gate. Not one to be immediately showy with his brilliant speed, Hal lingers while his compadres fly up the track in a hurry. He'll settle ten lengths off the leader in a small field and as much as fifteen in a large one. Such massive gaps from front to back spell doom in shorter races, hence why Hal will never be good at five furlong races. At the halfway point to six, Hal's rider will give him his cue and the colt will rebreak as if he is just joining the race. It almost seems as though Hal possesses a quarter horse's speed at times like this. He cuts impossible gaps to pieces in the matter of jaw-dropping moments and by the time the field reaches mid-stretch, Hal has their full measure. He can weave through the smallest pf spaces and knows just what to do in order to get his nose on the wire first. If challenged, he is as game as they come and he will fight for the win with all his heart - the word "quit" just isn't in his vocabulary. WORKOUTS
