Personality: While his appearance and looks may be fit for a king, King's Choice is far from that title. King definitely takes after his sire in the way that he would be a complete embarrassment to any royal family. While still extremely affluent and social when it comes to other horses and his handlers, King can always be caught playing tricks on his handlers and is most definitely an escape artist. He causes more trouble than he does good, but due to his lovable personality, he still manages to remain at the top of his handler's favorites. He's easy to spot around the stable, not only for his regal looks but for more practical purposes, you will more than not see him in a rope halter as he has learned to unlatch any sort of halter that has a clip on it. King's stall is also the only one that has to be triple latched. He's a bit of a silly soul and really an odd horse when it comes to interacting with humans or other horses. His favorite past time is sticking his tongue out long enough for someone (horse or human) to notice. Once they finally do, he will push his tongue into you until you grab a hold of it. An extremely odd habit for a racehorse, but it seems to be one thing that makes King truly happy. We've even caught him doing this little trick with his best bud and stablemate Honolulu Hunk. There he was just standing next to him with Harley's lips wrapped around his tongue, happy as can be. It wouldn't be a surprise if one day we walked out and King had lost his tongue. He's the most annoying horse to clean stalls as he will just sit and push his nose into whoever gets punished with the task and usually ends up getting tied to the corner where he will just sway his butt back and forth. Having to be part of everything and anything that may or may not be happening, King is nosy and has absolute terrible ground manners when he is being led around the stable. Often seen dragging his handlers around the barn, he always wants to be the first one to the action. This behavior definitely translates to the racetrack as King always wants to be the first one out of the gate, the first one to the first turn, and the first one to the finish line. Due to this demeanor of his, he's really not the easiest horse to control under saddle. While not necessarily dangerous or anything like that, he can be quite explosive when he gets on the track as he just can't wait to get going.
Grade 5
7-10 furlongs Turf [Great] Dirt [Good] Race Results: 2 | 1-0-1 | 100% HOTY POINT(S) | 1 Running Style: Explosive Front Runner Due to his want to be first to do.. well everything, it is no surprise that King has taken a liking to exploding to first straight out of the gate. Guaranteed the first one out of the gate every time, King absolutely loves being the pace setter and he is exceptionally talented at doing so. While he has the stamina to run longer distances, he excels at those shorter mile distances for this reason - he is an absolute speed demon. He very rarely gives up the lead to anyone and if he does, it's usually because his jockey has fought him hard enough to get him to come back. However, he really excels at being in front and going wire to wire and his jockeys have learned to accept that. As long as he remains in the lead, King is golden for that final stretch run. Usually the first one to begin his run on the final turn - surprise, surprise - King is almost always the horse you have to catch on the stretch, and he does not make that an easy task. Getting to the winner's circle is always his number one goal, and he will do everything in his power to secure victory. WORKOUTS
