MOONSHINE (G1)Y15 17HH BLACKSTALLION - WON OVER 8-12F DUAL
|
Personality: Moonshine is gorgeous. He is all smooth lines, sleek muscle, and, with his large build, boasts an incredibly long and ground-saving stride. Despite his gorgeous appearance, however, Milo honestly cannot be considered sweet at all. In fact, he's popular considered to have an attitude problem by the barn at large. Milo, first of all, is a loner. He likes to be in his stall all day and away from other horses if at all possible. He is most comfortable if by himself and greatly dislikes having the peace and tranquility of his solitude disturbed. If a person comes around, Milo becomes slightly annoyed, often offering pinned ears and, in some cases, a nip or a bite in reaction to the disturbance of his peace - if he's able to reach the person. After all, Milo isn't stupid; he won't expend the effort unless he will actually succeed in what he sets out to do. Milo does not like to be turned out with other horses, taking his barn attitude to the paddock with him. He's not afraid to use his bulk and his muscle to ensure that he is left alone. Occasionally, however, Milo sheds his loner attitude around the fillies. He's been known to strut his stuff and show off for the ladies, preening for their attention in a way that many find surprising. Milo is certainly a very interesting horse, shedding the herd mentality of most horses for solitude and using his physicality to guarantee that he gets what he wants.

PEDIGREE COMMENTS Numerous top runners today trace back to DANCING IN THE MOONLIGHT, hence why he was inducted into the Breeding Hall of Fame. We believe Moonshine will take after his sire in this aspect, proving himself to be more an asset in the breeding shed than on the track. With too many top racehorses to name, Moonshine's lines are rich with extremely notable racehorses.

Milo is not a horse that appreciates loud, busy tracks, though he is tolerant of them. They violate his desire for solitude, but for the sake of finishing ahead and winning Milo puts in the effort regardless. He is often well-behaved in the post parade, though he cannot be taken out alongside a pony or warmed-up too close to the other horses in the field. With his bulk, Moonshine does not have the quickest break from the gates. In fact, he's honestly quite sluggish. In a manner reminiscent of Infinite Warcry, Milo is the horse you can expect to find trailing the field in the early stages of the race. He stays alone at the back for the vast majority of the race. All of this changes when he gets into the home stretch. Then, Milo is asked by his jockey to go, and go he does. He sweeps up the field using his large, ground-eating strides, catching the leaders as quickly as possible and looking to put himself in front by open lengths. Milo hates the company of other horses alongside him when running and expends extra effort just to get them as far from him as possible. That typically means Milo likes to open as wide a gap as possible between himself and the other horses in the field, hence why he is not a deep-stretch closer but a final-turn style one. He loves to win and will fight for the winners' circle each and every time.
