PASSIONATE GOD (G1)
Y12 16.2HH DARK BAY STALLION - WON OVER 7-10F DIRT
|
Personality: Nate lives up to his name very well - he is a wild, aggressive colt, with all of the hot-headedness of his parents combined. He's bold, afraid of nothing, and has a huge dominant streak that makes him a fantastic competitor, if hard to handle on the ground. He has to have a strong, firm personality working with him in order to keep him from taking advantage. While he's still aggressive, he shows a little more wariness and will be less likely to actually cause damage. He doesn't get along with other horses in the pastures, taking nothing but leadership as acceptable. He's turned out in a paddock now, adjoining other horses but not actually in with them - we're too afraid he'll actually cause damage to the other colts, or them to him. He's halfway manageable when being tacked up, though he does tend to get a little girth sour if things are done too quickly. We think his better moods are due to the anticipation of being able to run - it's the perfect outlet for his explosive energy, and he's really his best when under saddle. With a weaker or timid rider, he'll still take the bit and pull them around. With a confident rider who's used to difficult stallions, as Hal is, he's pretty much push-button. He still has his bold manner, but that only serves to pour on more speed when challenged. They try to keep other horses, especially colts, away from him on the ground, as he's tried to start fights before the race before.

Race Results:
45 | 16 - 15 - 11 85%
Running Style: Versatile
Though he's not as runaway aggressive as he used to be, Finn still very much prefers the lead. He'll gun straight out of the gate to the front, keeping an eyes out for anyone coming to challenge. If another horse does fight him for the lead, he'll want to battle it out - however, Tigris is able to get him under control, and they'll settle about a length behind the leader fairly quickly and without much fuss. Though Finn prefers the front, he runs just as well from the preceder position. He'll sit cool for the race, but each furlong brings a little bit more eagerness, and a little more drive. Because he gets impatient, he'll move of on the leader on the final turn if he doesn't have to go too wide to do it. As soon as they hit the stretch, you'd better watch out. The colt's got a lot of stamina and a lot of power, so he'll rocket forward the moments he's asked to. It's the same if he's in the front - as soon as the stretch opens up, he's ready to go. He drives on as if his life depends on it, and only gets better if someone challenges. He's not the type to give up, and will fight like wild to get ahead. If he doesn't come past the wire first, he won't slow down until he passes the winner, so it's best just to let him truck on until he feels better. He never forgets a loss, and is likely to come back two fold the next time around.
